Unit 3: Activity 1 – Task 2

Target Audience

The target audience in terms of demographic profiling will be:

  • Age: 16+, the film is a horror and not suitable for under 16s
  • Gender: Mostly male. The main character is male and there are no females in the film.
  • Income: Low to Mid income. Will be possible to stream, therefore people with a lower income will be able to afford.
  • Education: College students, university students and working people.
  • Occupation: Student to average salary job.

Sociographic profiling – My film will be targeted towards “mainstreamers”

Equipment

The equipment I will use:

  • Camera
  • Tripod
  • Boom mic

If I was to produce the film in the film industry, I would use:

  • Lighting equipment
  • Different lenses
  • Props for effect

Crew Personnel

I will be controlling the camera, and will have one other person to control the microphone. In the film industry I would have the producer, prop and cast director and cinematographer with me.

Marketing Product

For my film I would create social media pages to promote it. On the pages I would have short trailers and photos promoting the product, with people able to share their reactions. I would also create posters for the film, to gain more attraction from the general public. There would be a trailer for the film, being shown at various cinemas.

Celebrity Endorsement

I would utilise celebrity endorsement by using celebrities to do with the horror genre to promote my film through social media. I would want the film to be promoted through celebrity events like festivals or concerts.

Media Platforms

I would use social media, like facebook and instagram, to promote my film, as this would reach a large audience, and an audience of younger adults. I would also want my film to be advertised through TV and on streaming services like YouTube, to gain attraction from people who are into films.

Distribution

The film will be distributed through DVD in stores, and also through Netflix. If the film is on Netflix it will gain more attraction as it people will see it and be able to watch it easily. If people enjoy the film on Netflix they may recommend it to their friends.

My film will be distributed in February 2020, and will be released to Netflix before DVD, so that it can gain attraction.

The distribution company I would use is Bulldog Film Distribution, as they are based in Brighton and have distributed many popular horror films successfully.
