Idea 1 –
Synopsis: A man wakes up in the middle of nowhere, dirty and cold. He walks about, confused and stumbles upon a body lying on the floor. He inspects the body to find out that the person had been murdered. The man proceeds to walk around in close proximity to find out more, and finds some objects used to kill the body. Whilst the man is walking around, he stops for a moment, then turns round to see the killer behind him.
Style: The film will be non-linear, because there will be some scenes which happened in the past throughout the movie. It will be a single-stranded film, due to the fact there is only one story, and although there are different scenes, they are not different stories. This film will be open structured, as there will be no clonclusive ending.
Genre: Crime/Horror. The film will be a crime genre because it involves murder and criminal objects. It will also contain some of the horror genre because it will contain some greusome and scary scenes, with a jumpscare.
Brief Interpretation: The film will match the brief because it is based in a place outside of the London area, and has a fictional narrative. There will also be a landmark featured in the film.
Characters: There will be 3 characters in my film, a main character who uncovers the story, the dead body and the murderer who is the antagonist of the film. The main character is a man who is curious and unsure of where he is. He is a good person who likes to help people. The murderer is someone who wears a mask, and is powerful. He doesn’t have any morals and doesn’t care about anyone or anything other than himself.

Idea 2 –
Synopsis: A man gets a knock on his door, and opens it to find a salesman in old ragged clothes trying to sell him a vintage camera. The salesman is very persistent, but the man in the house makes it clear that he is not interested and shuts the door. The man in the house then starts experiencing strange things, like banging on the window and doors slamming shut. He tries to ignore the noises by sitting and reading the newspaper, and he reads an article reporting sightings of a man who died 40 years ago, trying to sell his camera.
Style: The film is linear, as the story will be in chronological order. It will also be single stranded, because there is only one story occurring. The film will have an open structure, as the ending will not be conclusive, therefore it will be up to the audience to decide what happens after.
Genre: The film will be a horror fantasy. It will not be very scary, but it fits mostly into the horror genre as the film will be spooky and contains a ghost, which are usually seen as evil/scary characters.
Brief interpretation: The film would follow the terms of the brief, as it will be set outside of the London area, and include a noteworthy landmark in the establishing shot. The film also has a fictional narrative.
Characters: There will be two main characters in this film, one being Danny, the man who lives in a house and is approached by the salesman. The other character is the salesman/ghost, who’s name is Jeff Peterson. Danny is a man in his 20s who lives on his own in a middle class area. He is happy with his life and respectful to others. Jeff is a ghost who died 40 years ago. Not many people know much about him other than his name.
